“We first met at a mutual friends birthday party in Los Angeles, California right after New Years. Despite the fact that we went to rival colleges (UCLA vs USC) we were both smitten right away. Ford surprised me by proposing at the beach during a weekend trip to Carmel-by-the-Sea in Northern California after dating for four years. We spent the entire weekend celebrating just the two of us in Carmel, but secretly Ford had planned an engagement party in Palm Springs with all our closest friends the very next weekend, knowing I would want to celebrate with them too! I had grown up skiing in Park City with my family and close family friends over the years so Park City was always a special place to me. When me and Ford started dating, however, we started taking multiple trips out to Park City each year to go skiing together in the winter, hiking in the summer, and celebrating our dating anniversary and my birthday in the fall. When we began looking for wedding venues I said I wanted to look in three different states (much to Fords dismay), but deep down we both knew we would end up getting married in Park City. The second we pulled up to River Bottom’s Ranch, I whispered to Ford, ‘I think this is it. This is where we’re getting married, I can feel it’ before I even stepped out of the car! I just knew it in my gut that River Bottom’s Ranch would be the perfect wedding venue for us. And it was! Our wedding day felt like a dream. I wanted it to feel soft, romantic, delicate but laid back with elements that showcased our personalities and relationship. Some of my favorite memories of the day was doing our first look at the alter, having Winston walk down the aisle, kicking off the cocktail hour with a champagne sabering (even though it didn’t necessarily go according to plan) and the champagne tower; the double rainbow during cocktail hour; our numerous shot ski shots; our outfit change into my white jumpsuit and Ford’s bolo tie and our matching cowboy hats; all the dancing; our private last dance and sparkler send off. Some other details from the day that I love is that we designed our speciality cocktails using inspiration from Park City and my home state of Georgia. We wanted to pull in elements of skiing into our day, since it’s our favorite activity to do in Park City; so we came up with a list of our favorite ski runs and used them as table names and worked with a vendor to design guest ski passes as part of the seating chart to help guests find their skis and seats! Finally, I love that we ended up incorporating Coca Cola into our night since my dad worked there nearly his entire career and the family all loves drinking Coca Cola. We ended up handing out mini coke bottles towards the end of the night, which guests loved.”
